Butterfly Data

The butterfly data is a classical example to demostrate the shortcoing of hard clustering techniques

Clustering: Butterfly Data

Where some data can be assigned to the green or red classes C1 nd C2, the blue datum has an ambigious status with respect to class membership. Soft clustering techniques can provide more meaningful classification in such cases.
