Delegation on Important State Visits


The Academic delegation comprising of 7 heads of institution including Prof Raja Kumar and Jt Secretary MHRD participated in the hon’ble President’s visit to China from 24th to 27th May 2016 and returned to India on 27th May 2016 at around 4 pm. The team participated in all the designated events:

Academic Events at Yingjie Exchange Center, Peking University, Beijing on 26.05.2016:
  1. Ten (10) MoU’s were signed between Indian Institutes/Universities and Chinese Universities at 8.00 am on 26.05.2016. The entire academic delegation participated along with the Chinese delegation. IIT Bhubaneswar signed an MoU with Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), China for research collaboration between School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering with Institution of Advanced Materials and Solidification, School of Materials Science and Engineering, SJTU. Prof. R.V. Rajakumar of IIT Bhubaneswar and Dr. Mingxu Xia of SJTU, China (on behalf of Prof. Jianguo Li).
  2. Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar Co-chaired the Academic Session-1 on “Scientific Research: Construction of World-class Universities and Disciplines” at 8.30 am. Prof V Ramagopala Rao, Prof Narendra S Chaudhari, Prof Syed Abdul Bari and three Presidents/Vice-Chancellors from China made brief presentations. The entire academic delegation participated along with the Chinese delegation.
  3. Participated in Session-2 on “Education: Promotion for Innovation and Entrepreneurship” at 9.30 am. Prof Saibal Chattopadhyay, Prof Gopal Mugeraya, Prof Ashok Aima and three Presidents/Vice-Chancellors from China made brief presentations. The entire academic delegation participated along with the Chinese delegation.
  4. Participated in the speech of hon’ble President at 10.30 am. The entire academic delegation participated along with the Chinese delegation.
  5. Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar made a very brief presentation on the outcome of the two academic sessions to the hon’ble President, the delegation from India, Chinese dignitaries, academicians from Chinese Universities including Peking University at 11.40 am at the academic conclave.
  6. Exchange of the 10 MoU’s between the Indian Institutes/Universities and Chinese Universities in the presence of the hon’ble President at 12.00 hrs.
  7. Participated in the event for remarks of hon’ble President and Education Minister of China at the academic conclave at 12.15pm.
  8. Participated in discussions on general academic scenario of China at the lunch hosted by President, Peking University.
  9. Attended the welcome ceremony from hon’ble President of China to hon’ble President of India at the Great Hall of People (GHP) at 5pm on 26.05.2016.
  10. Participated in the state banquet hosted by hon’ble President of China in honour of the President of India at the Great Hall of People (GHP) at 6.30 pm on 26.05.2016.
  11. The academic delegation visited the Great Wall of China between 6.30 am and 9.30 am before departing for India at 1.00 pm to India.

The academic delegation found a lot of scope and value in collaborating with Chinese Universities and signing of the present set of MoU’s marks a very good beginning. There have been excellent learning outcomes from the initiative.

Overall, participation in the delegation of hon’ble President has been very exciting, it is a great experience, learning, and we profusely thank our President and Ministry of HRD for providing us with the grand opportunity. I am sure; it will go a long way in making a positive impact.
