Dr. Arnab Atta

Professor of Chemical Engineering and Principal Investigator, Multiscale Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (mCFD Lab)

Arnab Atta

Arnab accomplished his Ph.D. in 2010 from IIT Delhi as a National Doctoral Fellow on macro-scale modeling of two-phase flow in trickle bed reactors under the supervision of Professor K.D.P. Nigam. During his Ph.D. tenure, he spent nine months at the Université Laval, Canada as a Commonwealth Fellow under the supervision of Professor Faïçal Larachi. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta, Canada, he worked with Professor Subir Bhattacharjee on developing a process simulator to identify mechanisms of destabilization and breakdown of thin liquid films under the influence of external electric fields. He also investigated the fundamental approaches to address rheology of complex fluids which provide new insights in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques, micro-scale fluid transport modeling, and reservoir simulation. He joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur as an Assistant Professor in 2013.
