Gaps in quantifying environmental losses of plastics impede effective solutions
EMRL develops advanced analytical and decision-support frameworks for municipal solid waste management, plastics circularity, environmental risk assessment, and sustainability transitions. Our goal is to create science-based solutions that support resilient cities and a circular economy.
Advanced frameworks for municipal solid waste systems, comparing centralized vs. decentralized approaches to optimize cost, efficiency, and environmental outcomes.
Quantifying plastic losses into the environment, tracking value chain flows, and developing policy-relevant strategies for circular plastics economies in India and globally.
Science-based risk assessment for pollution pathways, life cycle analysis, and decision-support tools to guide urban and national sustainability transitions.
I am a faculty member at the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur, with research interests in Environmental Management, Sustainability Quantification and Circular Economy. My work focuses on developing science-based and policy-relevant solutions to environmental challenges, particularly in the areas of waste management. I am a SERB SIRE Fellow hosted by Prof. Fei Xunchang at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, a WIMEK Fellow hosted by Dr. Tim (THM) van Emmerik at Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands, and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow hosted by Prof. Alexis Laurent at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). I completed my Master's and Ph.D. at IIT Bombay under the supervision of Prof. Subhankar Karmakar and Prof. A. K. Dikshit, where I received the Excellence in Ph.D. Research Award.
