About the Lab

This laboratory will give an opportunity to the students and researchers for carrying out research on Micromanufacturing technologies using mechanical micro-machining.

Facilities

The laboratory is equipped with the some of the latest state-of-the-art facilities as follows:
• an ultra-precision 5 axis CNC Micro-machining centre (positional accuracy of ± 0.5 µm, surface finish Ra < 1 µm),
• Laser measuring system: Tool measurement,
• Touch probe system: Workpiece measurement,
• High speed Spindle options: 500-50,000 rpm and 60,000-160,000 rpm oil-air lubricated,
• Lubrication: Oil mist / Flood,
• an optical camera system for inspection of micro-tools with enhanced zoom range for 40-450x magnification,

as well as various software packages such as,

• CNC Simulator Heidenhain ITNC 530,
• CAD modeling software (SolidWorks, CATIA),
• Software for CAD/CAM based Part Programming (CAMWorks, SpectraCAM, SpectraCAD Engraver)
